Dr. James E. Fulton's journey began with the desire to end his own battle with severe acne and his determination to help the millions of others who faced a similar challenge. His groundbreaking research redefined how acne is treated and laid the foundation for the most important dermatologic therapies used today.
Sara and James Fulton met at the University of Pennsylvania, where she was a researcher and chemist, and he was a young dermatologist and PhD candidate pioneering research into retinoic acid that ultimately would become Retin-A® (Tretinoin). Their meeting marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership, and their shared commitment to research and innovation became the basis of Vivant Skin Care®.

Dr. James E. Fulton brought together two distinct ways of understanding skin. With a combined MD in Dermatology and a PhD in biochemistry, his knowledge of the skin's pathways enabled him to develop advanced formulations to work at a molecular level below the skin's surface, resulting in breakthrough formulas that forever changed the skin care industry.
Dr. Fulton's innovations- Retin-A®, Stabilized Benzoyl Peroxide (PanOxyl™), Clinical Mandelic Acid, and REt (RP)™ Retinoid, reshaped the treatment of acne, aging, and hyperpigmentation.
