Your Fall Skin Care Checklist

Your Fall Skin Care Checklist

The official start of fall is just days away (September 22). Along with adjusting your wardrobe and latte flavor to match the season, it’s a good time to make a few tweaks to your skin care regimen. Here’s what’s on your fall skin care checklist.

Book a Professional Facial

An aesthetician can help assess any summer skin damage and help you get back into balance with a deep cleaning and comprehensive repair tailored to your skin’s specific needs. It’s the perfect way to clear away the build-up of cellular debris, sunscreen, and pollutant from three months of humidity and outdoor activity. It’s also an excellent way to start the season fresh and prepare your skin for the colder winter months ahead.

Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate

Your skin has just come through three months of sweat, sunscreen, excess oil, can you blame it if it’s bogged down under a layer of cellular debris? Acids and vitamin A should be part of your routine to slough off the upper layers of dead skin and spur cellular regeneration. Vivant’s Exfol-A™ Daily Vitamin A mixes regenerative vitamin A with a cocktail of exfoliating and brightening acids—glycolic, kojic, lactic—plus nourishing ingredients like niacinamide and glycine.

Get a Brightening Boost

After months of summer sun, you could be noticing some signs of photodamage including some pigmentation. A daily vitamin C serum is essential for repairing photo-damage and brightening up the skin. Vivant’s Pure C + E Serum brightens, protects from future damage, and strengthens the skin barrier, and boosts collagen production. Use Spin Trap as a booster along with other serums. It’s not an either-or proposition. Layer your serums like you layer your fall clothing.

Switch Your Toner

During the summer months, you may have opted for a slightly more astringent toner to keep oily, sweaty skin fresh and refined. As humidity drops, skin may begin to feel drier.

For a hydrating and protective swipe of refinement, try Skin Nourishing Toner with ingredients to calm, hydrate, brighten, and restore including mandelic acid, niacinamide, green tea extract, rose hip oil, and witch hazel. If your skin is oily or acne prone, Normalizing Tonic matches glycolic and lactic acid to clarify and refine, without over-drying.

Lip Service

Give your lips protection from the elements and fuller definition at the same time. MaxiLip plumping balm moisturizes, protects, and plumps all in one. With peptides to stimulate collagen and elastin production, oxygenating ingredients to increase blood flow and promote a natural, rosy hue, and hydrating ingredients to soothe and smooth.

Don’t Put Away the Sunscreen

Just because the weather is turning cooler, the sun is still hitting you with damaging UV rays. Sun protection worn under your makeup or on its own should be part of your daily routine to protect skin from sneaky photo-damage that can happen even when you’re just out running errands or on your way to work. Remember that deeply penetrating UVA rays are not stopped by glass, so in even in your car, you’re exposed. Vivant’s Day Treatment Lotion SPF 15 provides UVA/UVB protection and hydration in a light, non-greasy, non-comedogenic formula for all skin types. Don't forget the back of your hands!
